Calico (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is an unofficial client application for the MangaDex platform, developed by Printstream. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Calico mobile application. By using Calico, you agree to the practices outlined in this document.
2. Local Storage and Data Handling #
We operate no servers and collect no personal data on external servers.
On-Device Storage: All application data—including your local library, bookmarks, reading history, and app settings—is stored exclusively on your local device. Encrypted Credentials: If you choose to log in with your MangaDex account, your session credentials and tokens are encrypted and stored securely using hardware-backed cryptographic storage directly on your device (such as the Android Keystore). We never transmit or store your password or personal user data on any developer-controlled servers.
3. Third-Party Services & MangaDex API #
Calico acts as an alternative client interface that communicates directly with the official MangaDex API to search, browse, and read content.
When you browse titles or read chapters, network requests are made directly between your device and MangaDex servers. Your usage of MangaDex services via the app is subject to MangaDex’s terms and privacy practices. You can review the official MangaDex Privacy Policy at https://mangadex.org/compliance/privacy.
4. Data Control and User Rights #
Because all data resides locally on your device, you retain total control:
Account Logout: Signing out of your MangaDex account in the app settings immediately purges all active session tokens and cached credentials from your device storage. App Data Removal: Clearing the app data or uninstalling Calico permanently removes all local reading history, library entries, and cached files from your device.
5. Children’s Privacy #
Calico does not collect, track, or store personal information from children or any other users.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy #
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any modifications will be reflected directly within this document.
